The Coordinator has the general responsibility for the continuing development, growth, implementation and maintenance of the Dental Hygiene Program.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
In addition, specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintains compliance with program accreditation policies and procedures.Maintains liaisons with the appropriate licensing and accrediting agencies.Provides input to the Divisional Dean relative to program review of the Dental Hygiene Program.Advises potential students and students within the Dental Hygiene program.Assists with the development and implementation of strategies for improving student recruitment, success, retention and completion within the Dental Hygiene Program.Teaches courses according to expected Coordinator teaching loads.Recommends student-centered course schedules to the Divisional Dean for the specific purpose of maximizing enrollment and minimizing costs of the program.Plans and monitors the assessment of courses within the program for the specific purpose of improving both student learning and Department performance.Schedule classes and enters the course schedule into the Leapfrog (Courseleaf) Course Scheduling Software (CLSS).Orders textbooks for each semester of the Dental Hygiene program.Determines and submits course substitutions for graduating seniors to the Dean for approval.Assists the Divisional Dean in new faculty selection.Provides input in the annual program budget.Determines the adequacy of program facilities and equipment and recommends capital equipment purchases to the Dean.Cooperates with enrollment management personnel in recruitment, advisement, admissions and graduate placement.Supervises and assists faculty in evaluating and implementing the curriculum of the Dental Hygiene program.Recommends library resources to the Dean to support the needs and meet the goals of the program, faculty, and students.Supervises, assists and evaluates faculty in their instructional experiences.Provides for the personal and professional growth of the program’s faculty members.Serves as a member of the Advisory Committee to maintain effective communications and oversees the writing, archiving, and distribution of minutes.Performs other similar duties as assigned.

Required: Dental hygienist who is a graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.Masters or higher degree or is currently enrolled in a masters or higher degree program.
