Surface Mine Manager Description
Our client in the mining industry is looking for an experienced Surface Mine Manager to add to their team in Southern West Virginia. In this key leadership role, you will report directly to the General Manager and oversee all aspects of surface operations, including surface coal mining, highwall mining, reclamation, and trucking activities. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient and have a proven track record of applying their technical expertise to solve complex challenges. Success in this role requires building strong relationships with your team through consistent demonstrations of impartiality, integrity, honesty, and sound judgment. Surface Mine Manager Responsibilities
- Oversee daily surface mining operations, ensuring efficiency and safety
- Develop and implement mine plans, schedules, and budgets to meet operational goals
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state mining regulations
- Monitor and evaluate operational performance
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure optimal equipment performance
- Develop and manage budgets, control expenses, and ensure financial objectives are met
- Perform related tasks assigned by the General Manager
- Develop and manage a team that can safely, effectively and efficiently perform assigned tasks
- Provide continuous feedback to crew members, recognizing excellent performance and implementing corrective actions needed
- Lead and support continuous improvement projects
- Adhere to and enforce the Company’s policies and procedures to ensure safety
Surface Mine Manager Qualifications
- Surface Coal Miner Certification required
- Surface Foreman Certification required
- 5 years of experience as a surface foreman required
- 5 years of experience as surface superintendent required
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills required
