Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with Student Support Team (SST) to manage caseload of students on student support plans
- Work with Student Support Tier Teams on helping teachers to identify and manage students in Tier 2 and 3 needing support inside and out of the classroom.
- Assist teachers in applying differentiated instruction/intervention strategies in their classrooms for struggling students.
- Perform classroom observations on struggling students and meet with SST and teachers to discuss findings.
- Meet with classroom teachers to discuss student progress and to make an action plan to meet the students' learning goals.
- Work with students individually or in small groups (pull in or push out) to administer and implement the SSP.
- Facilitate transition for students exiting the program.
- Provide resource room support for regular classroom testing, project completion, make-up work, and standardized testing.
- Teach study skills/strategies to all students during Resource Time
- Bachelor's degree in education; focus on special education is preferred. Certified 6-12 ESE.
- Hold a current, 5-year renewable Professional Florida Educator Certificate; a 3-4 year non-renewable Temporary Florida Educator Certificate or be eligible for certification
- Strong understanding and knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
- Excellent communications skills both written and oral
- Knowledge of school curriculum and concepts
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Proficiency with computer network systems and software programs
- Ability to use technology to enhance student learning
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Pass a FDLE Level 2 background check
