Job Title: Museum Relocation Photographer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Museum Relocation Photographer to document all artifacts before, during, and after their relocation. The ideal candidate will have experience in museum or archival photography, ensuring high-quality, detailed images for conservation records, research, and exhibition planning. This role requires technical expertise in lighting, macro photography, and digital archiving, as well as close collaboration with conservators and museum staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Capture high-resolution photographs of all museum artifacts before and after relocation.
- Ensure accurate color, scale, and detail in all images for documentation and conservation purposes.
- Work closely with conservators and curators to prioritize and organize photography sessions.
- Use appropriate lighting and photographic techniques to minimize reflections and distortions.
- Maintain a meticulous cataloging system for digital image files.
- Assist with 3D imaging or photogrammetry for select artifacts as needed.
- Ensure all images meet museum archiving standards and are properly stored.
- Handle fragile objects with extreme care, following conservation guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Museum Studies, or a related field.
- Experience in museum, archival, or object photography.
- Proficiency in digital photography, post-processing, and image management.
- Knowledge of lighting techniques for reflective, delicate, or three-dimensional objects.
- Familiarity with digital asset management and metadata standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with photogrammetry or 3D scanning technologies.
- Familiarity with museum cataloging software.
- Prior work in artifact documentation or historical preservation.
