POSITION TITLE: (Special Education) Teacher’s Assistant / Behavior Specialist
REQUIREMENTS:
- Certification (or ability to obtain) as a Teaching Assistant from the Rhode Island Department of Education, or completion of an Associate’s degree preferably in a related field
- Experience preferred working with children who can exhibit challenging behaviors.
- Ability to obtain a Chauffeur's license.
- Physical ability to be trained and perform crisis intervention.
- Effective and efficient work habits to serve as a role model to students
- Clean Criminal Background Check
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collaboratively with all staff to create positive outcomes and behavior plans for students with challenging behaviors.
- Follow, implement, and report on procedures for students
- Collect data and be proficient with technology.
- Communicate with families and staff regarding student needs and progress.
- Work directly with students at-risk to help them develop appropriate behaviors.
- Provide support to students in the event of a safety-related incident, including the use of appropriate physical intervention
- Aide students to complete classroom work and to achieve their goals
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education and building principal
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
