  • Job Summary

    Under the direction of an assigned Administrator or Supervisor, perform a variety of instructional activities; assist the classroom teacher in presenting intensified learning experiences; perform supportive tasks for instructional personnel; perform other job-related duties as assigned and / or as required.

    Requirements / Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE OF :

  • Basic concepts of child growth development and behavioral characteristics.
  • Student behavior management strategies and techniques.
  • Appropriate English usage, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • Basic mathematical concepts.
  • Computer curricular programs and basic programming language.
  • Routine record storage, retrieval and management procedures.
  • ABILITY TO :

  • Demonstrate an understanding toward students of various ages and ethnic groups.
  • A patient and receptive attitude.
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Perform routine clerical tasks and operate a variety of educational and office related machines and equipment.
  • Utilize a variety of appropriate instructional materials and procedures used in the enhancement of a positive educational environment.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults.
  • EDUCATION :

    Verification of a High School diploma, a GED certificate, or a higher degree. (Requested upon employment)

    EXPERIENCE :

    One year of paid or volunteer experience working with groups of various ages is preferred.

    LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS :

  • Verification of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
  • A First Aid certificate and a CPR certificate issued by the American Red Cross is required at time of employment and must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
  • Insurability by the District's liability insurance carrier may be required.
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (Two (2) Letters of Recommendation are required. The letters must be dated within the last two (2) years. Electronic signatures WILL be accepted.)

    Successful completion of the District Instructional Assistant Proficiency Test (passing of a rigorous assessment that demonstrates the knowledge of an ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics at a level meeting State and Federal requirements is required).

  • Applicants who have completed a Bachelor's Degree, Associates Degree or 48 College Units from an accredited College or University may submit a copy of their degree or unofficial transcripts to WAIVE the "PROFICIENCY EXAM". College Units must be at least General Education Courses at the college level (prerequisites are not admissible) AND have a grade of "C" or better. Transcripts will be reviewed by Rialto Unified School District Personnel Services for approval. Applicants must detail specifically how they meet the requirements of the position. All sections of the application must be FULLY completed even if a resume is submitted. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of the completed application. An incomplete application will not be considered.
  • All applications (outside and in-house) along with the required attachments must be submitted through EDJOIN.org, no later than 4 : 00 PM on the closing date. Paper applications and required attachments will not be accepted.

    Qualified applicants will be notified for testing and interviews via the e-mail address provided through EDJOIN. It is important for applicants to check their e-mail and ensure that all district e-mails are delivered to their inbox.

    Test date and location to be determined after the position closes. Qualified applicants will be notified by e-mail regarding the date, time, and location of the test. No late arrivals will be admitted. Picture ID is required. Qualified applicants will be contacted via e-mail regarding the status of the process.

    All offers of employment are made contingent upon the applicant passing a pre-employment physical examination and upon receipt of information from the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation that the applicant is not prohibited from being employed. Please be advised that the District's practice is to not pay third party vendors for job references.

    FOREIGN TRANSCRIPT EVALUATION

    Individuals who have completed course work at an institution in a country other than the United States must obtain a complete evaluation of foreign transcripts / degrees, prior to applying for a position, and attach a copy to the application electronically. The foreign transcripts must be evaluated by one of the approved organizations, listed on the Rialto Unified School District website, in order to be accepted. These organizations are private enterprises who charge a fee for their services. Individuals pursuing a foreign transcript evaluation must follow the procedures outlined by the organization providing the evaluation. In all instances, original, official documentation will be required when requesting the evaluation.

    Note : To obtain examination credits, veterans must electronically attach a copy of a DD214 (proof of service and / or disability) verification to the application.

    Note : Applicants who have previously passed the written examination for this position, and do not wish to retest, must submit a copy of their passing score e-mail notification by electronically attaching it to their application and you will not be required to retake the written test again. However, If you choose to retest and your new score is lower, the higher passing score will remain on record for the life of the certification list. If the written examination has been revised and / or modified, you will be required to re-test.
