Job Summary:
We are looking for a reliable and motivated Mechanic Shop Helper & Job Site Runner to support our mechanics and ensure smooth operations across our heavy construction equipment repair shop and job sites. This role involves assisting with maintenance tasks, organizing tools and parts, and running errands to deliver supplies or retrieve materials as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and repair tasks on heavy construction equipment, such as holding tools, cleaning parts, and preparing work areas.
- Organize and maintain the shop’s inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring items are readily available for mechanics.
- Clean and maintain the shop workspace to uphold safety and efficiency standards.
- Serve as a runner by traveling to job sites to deliver parts, tools, or equipment, and pick up materials as directed.
- Perform basic equipment checks and report any visible issues to mechanics or supervisors.
- Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Support administrative tasks, such as logging parts usage or documenting deliveries, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Entry-level experience in a shop or construction environment is a plus, but not required—willingness to learn is essential.
- Basic knowledge of tools and mechanical processes (training provided).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for job site travel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions from mechanics and supervisors.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with heavy construction equipment or automotive repair environments.
- Experience driving small trucks or vans for deliveries.
- Basic computer skills for tracking inventory or deliveries.
