Job Description
The anesthesiologist will provide comprehensive perioperative anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care, across various surgical specialties within a high-functioning and collaborative VA medical center. The position involves direct patient care and occasional supervision of CRNAs. The facility uses PICIS for charting and maintains nine operating rooms and five additional procedure areas (e.g., GI lab, Cath lab, ECT).
Responsibilities
- Administer anesthesia in surgical and procedural cases including laparoscopic, orthopedic, ENT, gynecologic, urologic, and interventional radiology procedures.
- Proficiency in Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia (UGRA) required.
- Provide anesthesia for EBUS, bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, and other out-of-OR procedures.
- Supervise and/or direct CRNAs as needed.
- Participate in regular credentialing, privileging, and performance evaluations.
- Accurately document care in the VA electronic medical record system.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols in accordance with VA and CDC guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory.
- Certifications:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Additional Requirements:
- National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- DEA Registration.
- Up-to-date immunizations (including TB, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, and Influenza).
- Completion of VA-mandated training (e.g., Privacy, HIPAA, CPRS).
- Clearance through VetPro credentialing and background screening.
- Experience: Open to recent graduates; no minimum years of experience required.
Contract Details
- Work Schedule: Monday–Thursday 6:30am–3:00pm; Friday 7:30am–4:30pm.
- On-call: Not required.
- Coverage: Providers may be rotated through 5 procedural areas in addition to the OR.
