The selected candidate will implement and maintain radiation safety protocols, perform quality assurance assessments, and assist in treatment planning and dose verification. This position requires a strong understanding of medical physics principles, radiation protection, and treatment delivery techniques in a clinical setting.Primary ResponsibilitiesConduct quality assurance (QA) procedures for radiation therapy equipment, including Varian Linear Accelerators and Toshiba CT Simulators, in compliance with TG-142 standards.Perform dosimetry calculations, treatment planning verification, and radiation exposure monitoring.Develop and oversee safety protocols to ensure compliance with NRC, NHPP, and VA Radiation Safety Committee regulations.Maintain accurate records of radiation oncology procedures, QA assessments, and patient treatment plans.Provide expert consultation to Radiation Oncologists and Dosimetrists on treatment modalities, including IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, and SRS.Participate in peer review conferences, clinical meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.Stay updated on advancements in medical physics and ensure adherence to ASTRO, ACR, and AAPM guidelines.Qualifications and ExperienceMasters Degree (M.S.) in Medical Physics, Radiation Physics, or a related field.Board Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR).Minimum two years of clinical experience, including at least one year in an ACR / APEx certified healthcare system.Proficiency in Varian Linear Accelerators (TrueBeam with BrainLab Accessories) and Toshiba CT Simulators.Experience with Eclipse Treatment Planning System and ARIA record and verify system.Strong knowledge of radiation safety and protection protocols.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.U.S. Citizenship and compliance with VA credentialing requirements.Certifications and LicensesBoard Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics (ABR).Continuing Medical Education (CME) as required for maintaining certification.Compliance with VHA Directive 1100.21 (Privileging) and VHA Handbook 1100.17 (NPDB Reports).Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.Work SchedulePart-Time : 20 hours per week.Monday Friday, with flexible scheduling options.On-call availability for urgent QA procedures and calibrations.
