Description
Ricardo Defense is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join our growing team at our Troy, MI office. The Controls Engineer will support vehicle controls and software development, electronics integration, and system commissioning using fundamental engineering knowledge, best practices, and industry knowledge.
This Controls Engineer will perform assignments and leads projects with minimal instruction and guidance from senior level engineers and managers. Develops and improves processes and tools. You will work in a team environment to support fielded combat vehicle systems and/or modification/upgrade programs, as well as new developmental programs.
Qualified Controls Engineering candidates for this position must be able to perform successfully both collaboratively and independently with periodic oversight. This position requires regular interaction with customers and subject matter experts. Some travel between Ricardo offices and customer locations will be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Controls Development
- Leads all controls and software development activities
- Works with cross functional project leads to ensure project success
- Define controls architecture, platform, and functionality
- Defines and creates control algorithms for specific systems in a Simulink environment
- Develop and test controls performance through modeling, bench, and vehicle testing
- Integration and commissioning of prototype systems in development vehicles
- Assist team with diagnosis of various electro-mechanical systems.
- Creating detailed reports summarizing work performed with results.
- Reviews technical documents for content and grammatical correctness.
- Support management of the project’s technical work and coordinate project activities with customer requirements.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university or other relevant field.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States Government Secret Clearance. The minimum requirements to obtain such a clearance is United States Citizenship. Only applicants that meet this requirement will be considered.
• A minimum of eight years of relevant controls engineering experience required.
• Must be proficient in Motohawk, Linux, and Matlab Simulink.
• Familiarity with CAN/Ethernet protocols and vehicle architecture.
• Prior experience with military vehicles is a plus.
• Excellent written communication skills and ability to present standout presentations.
• Ability to effectively collaborate in multidiscipline engineering environments.
• Good technical leadership, planning and organization/control skills.

Salary : $105,000 - $124,500
