Job Summary

Rice County is currently seeking Seasonal Workers for Highway and Parks Maintenance. Rice County is located in southern Minnesota, 50 miles south of the Minneapolis and St. Paul metropolitan area. The county, which encompasses an area of 516 square miles, has seven cities, 14 townships and 12 Rice County Parks. This position will include a variety of upkeep duties, for example, mowing, landscape maintenance, picking up brush and assisting the Highway Maintenance Operators.
Examples of Duties
- Traffic control flagger
- Weed spraying
- Mowing and cutting of brush
- Bituminous pothole patching and crack filling
- Repaint traffic symbols
- Requires work on roads, ditches, fields and highway right of way where exposure to weather, dust, and exhaust fumes and traffic may exist
- Park landscape maintenance, planting and pruning trees
- Empty Park garbage's and picking up litter
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED and valid Driver's License. Requires walking, standing, lifting and bending to a significant degree. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have ability to work extended hours required.

Supplemental Information
HOURS: Generally, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Thursday. Additional hours may be needed on nights and weekends. Seasonal position. Start date May 2025 and approximate end date of August 2025.
