What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker position at Rice County?
The Maintenance Worker maintains the County's buildings, parks and campground to provide the public with safe and well-maintained facilities and grounds. The Maintenance Worker also performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and HVAC repairs in and around the Rice County facilities. The Maintenance Worker properly maintains equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Perform various tasks related to the upkeep and maintenance of buildings.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance of building components and systems.
- Perform snow removal by manual and mechanical means.
- Maintain lawn and landscaped areas, and outdoor facilities by manual and mechanical means.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair on equipment.
- Perform janitorial duties.
- Perform carpentry work including the construction, installation, remodeling and repairing of cabinets, partitions, walls, windows, doors, roofs, foundations, and other carpentry work.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The job requires a high school diploma and three years of experience with park and facilities maintenance, or equivalent. Computer competency with MS Outlook and MS Office programs. The ability to work at heights such as building roofs and from ladders. Must pass criminal background check which includes fingerprinting. Must possess a valid Driver’s License upon hire.

Required Licenses: Must possess at hire or obtain a MN Special Boilers license within 90 days of employment. A MN 2nd Class C Boilers license must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with computerized facilities management systems is desirable.
HOURS: Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week. Normal working hours 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday - Friday.
