For nearly 80 years Rice Lake Weighing Systems has been a successful, growth-oriented company known as a leader in the weighing industry and our community. We are seeking a Customer Service Representative to join our team in Concord, CA.
This Customer Service Representative performs a variety of inside sales duties including answering incoming telephone sales calls from customers, responding to customer inquiries regarding order status, order verification, order entry, price, delivery queries and assisting them in any customer service situation. Ensures all customer interactions are done on a professional and customer friendly basis. Functions as a member of a team that provides a combined effort in accomplishing customer service obligations.
Job Duties include:
- Receives (by telephone, fax, web or email) requests for quotations, orders, and lead times from customers. Makes quotations on standard items, enters orders, and relays pertinent order information to customers.
- Coordinates with other departments in handling purchase orders and providing service to customers.
- Uses computer software to retrieve customer information, stock status information, the status of purchase orders, and to make changes on customer purchase orders. Ensures that correct codes are used for retrieving and inputting information.
- Works with scheduling as appropriate regarding deliveries of scheduled shipments.
- Makes price quotations immediately by phone on price book items. Prepares price quotations on products.
- Checks with credit department concerning credit status of customer when rush orders are received.
- Maintains files of active orders and relays information such as change notices, scheduling changes and partial shipments.
- Prepares paperwork (original purchase order, copies of invoice, and return goods memo) to be given to accounting department for credit or debit to be issued.
- Promptly input all Customer Complaint information into the Complaint database and notify the appropriate personnel, per approved procedures.
- Foster strong and positive communications with all external and internal customers.
- Communicate all customer inquiries and issues to appropriate individuals using established channels.
- Assist in managing customer agreements and maintaining detailed customer account files.
- Process and enter customer orders and requests for quotes timely and accurately.
- Assure on-time and accurate product shipments in accordance with customer requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
- Interface with inter-company departments: shipping, accounting, planning, technical support, service.
Works within the framework of assigned hours in the department to assure a quick and effective response to incoming calls, while being both available and adaptable to varying work situations. Scheduled work hours may be anywhere between the hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm on weekdays. Starting pay for this position is $25.00 per hour.
Experience:
Two (2) or more years of related customer service experience

- Candidate must work well under pressure and maintain professionalism during stressful situations. Must be self-motivated, confident, highly dependable, and have solid follow- up skills.
- Good personal computer skills including Windows, Word and Excel skills.
- Good typing/keyboarding skills, 50 wpm.
- Possess good math skills to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages
- Good verbal and written communications skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to interact with other departments to gain access to necessary information and be able to multitask.
- Exceptional oral/written reporting skills.
- Excellent professional telephone skills and presence.
- Able to respond to needs of customers in a timely and value-added manner.
- Valid Driver’s License.
