For nearly 80 years Rice Lake Weighing Systems (RLWS) has been a successful, growth-oriented company known as a leader in the weighing industry. Measurement Systems International (MSI), a division of RLWS in Kent, WA, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Student for a paid Internship.
We are hiring talented and motivated students to join our engineering team. You will be given assignments that build on the skills you developed in school, and the opportunity to enrich your professional development with ‘real world’ experience.
The Mechanical Engineering Intern is responsible for assisting the current engineers with their day to day activities. This internship will give hands on experience in the engineering field.
The Mechanical Engineering Intern is responsible for assisting many of the current engineers with their day to day activities which may include:
- Evaluate manufacturing processes; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- The intern will spend a good portion of his or her time working in a lab (under the direction of an engineer), testing load cells under load and varying temperature, in order to characterize performance.
- Improve manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Applicants must be enrolled in a 4-year degree program. They should have good researching and problem-solving skills, ability to read and understand engineering specifications, familiarity with SolidWorks and capable to create 2D and 3D drawings, and ability to work in a team environment. The applicant should also have very good hands on experience working with mechanical equipment and metal orming machines/equipment. This is a 40hour per week position during the summer months.
