For over 75 years, Rice Lake Weighing Systems has been a successful, growth-oriented company known as a leader in the weighing industry and our community. We are seeking a Scale Assembly to join our team.
BASIC FUNCTIIONS
At RLWS, the scale assembly employee(s) assembles a variety of products and sub-assemblies, and ensures all items are assembled correctly to meet RLWS quality standards. The scale assembly team utilizes the overhead crane and forklifts to assist with moving material and collecting products. The individual(s) must also complete any unplanned moving of parts or products to their final move areas. All RLWS employees are expected to work in a manner in which quality of work and safety are top priorities. This is achieved by following safety procedures and work instructions and keeping the work area clean and organized. The scale assembly employees(s) work in a fast-paced environment both independently and as part of a team. Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR TASKS:
- Operate the overhead crane to move material
- Assemble both exterior and interior parts of the RoughDeck scales
- Transport product to the proper stocking location
- Properly calibrate scales before packaging
- Package completed scale to prepare for shipment
- Must be able to work in a small group setting and independently to complete required workload
- Operate power tools and basic hand tools

Physical Demands and working conditions:
- Constant standing on concrete floor
- Continuous lifting and carrying of parts under 10 pounds
- Continuous fine finger movement in wiring, assembly and placing small parts together
- Frequent carrying of parts 11-20 pounds
- Frequent lifting of parts 11-50 pounds
- Frequent walking
- Frequent pushing of carts
- Frequent reaching above and below shoulder for rigging scales, packaging product, and basic assembly
- Frequent bending, kneeling and twisting with occasional crouching
- Occasional carrying of product 20 – 50 pounds
- Occasional lifting of 50 – 75 pounds, team lift is encouraged.
- Occasional reaching above shoulders and below waist for gathering parts and rigging the crane
- Occasional overhead crane operation
- Occasional forklift operation
- Hot and humid environment in the summer
- Fast-paced environment with deadline pressures
- PPE: Safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, face shield, hard hat, ear plugs
Minimum qualifications and prerequisites:
- Overhead crane, forklift and material handling experience preferred
- Manufacturing assembly experience desired
- Good communication skills required
- Some blueprint reading skills preferred
- Ability to read manufacturing documentation
- Good math skills required
- Ability to efficiently read a tape measure
