Systems & Database Infrastructure Services
The Database Administration team is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's critical Oracle databases, both on-premise and in the cloud. This includes activities such as performance tuning, security management, data backup and recovery, capacity planning, and ensuring data integrity and availability. The team plays a key role in providing support to various groups on campus and also manages a few cross-functional applications for reporting, automation, enterprise resource planning, among others.
Position Summary
The Business Automation Developer will work to create an Automation CoE and develop and support low-code technology solutions to improve and transform business processes for the University community.
The ideal candidate will work with Business Systems Analysts and process owners to define requirements and be responsible for the design, development, testing and implementation of automations using principles that are efficient, well-structured, documented, and easy to understand.

Workplace Requirements
This position is offered as a hybrid role, combining both in-office and remote work to provide flexibility and support collaboration. This position is onsite a minimum of 2 days per week. Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position, and the proposed salary range is $95,900 - $122,400 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted
- 3 years of increasingly responsible experience designing, implementing, and supporting automation solutions such as UIPath RPA.
- Skills
- Knowledge of software/RPA development lifecycle and best practices
- Ability to work collaboratively with others, including Business Analysts, colleagues, and functional users
- Understanding of various automation components, cloud/bot configuration, and licensing of UIPath, Power Automate etc
- Good judgment, problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
- Good planning and organizational skills, including management of multiple assignments
- Excellent documentation skills

Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with academic, research, and administrative units to develop and implement IT solutions that enhance institutional success. Establish intentional periodic check-ins to support active collaboration efforts.
- Be adaptive and responsive to the dynamic needs of the university community, ensuring swift, effective service delivery. Anticipate challenges and pivot quickly to address issues, with a focus on creating seamless and user-friendly experiences.
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement in all IT operations to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Regularly assess and optimize processes, systems, and technologies to enhance performance, scalability, and user satisfaction.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline
- 4 years of experience implementing, maintaining, and developing low-code automation solutions (such as UIPath RPA, Microsoft Power Platform, etc.)
- UIPath or similar certification
- Engage with stakeholders to capture business requirements, create process and solution design documents, and develop automation solutions based on findings
- Perform basic testing of automations and solutions before handing off to business systems analysts and end users for acceptance testing (UAT)
- Configure, manage, monitor, and maintain UIPath orchestration cloud
- Monitor and support existing automations to include root cause analysis for failures and provide timely responses/corrective actions
- Mentor and train other employees in automation best practices and development
- Complete all assigned administrative duties and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate
- Works with internal OIT leaders, solution vendors, external consultants and key stakeholders to solicit guidance and ensure organizational alignment
- Evaluates risks and identifies mitigation strategies; escalates to leadership as necessary
- Provides budget projections for software and licensing adjustments based on usage and customer requirements
- Performs all other duties as assigned
