Position Summary :
The Space Management Specialist II provides technical expertise and leadership in planning and executing space allocation, planning and management activities. This position works with the University Administration and the Executive Director for Space Management to develop space management strategies and solutions.
Workplace Requirements :
Hybrid position : This position is offered as a hybrid role, combining both in-office and remote work to provide flexibility and support collaboration. Exact hybrid schedule to be discussed with the Executive Director of Space Management. Per , work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range : $63,100 - $80,400
- Exempt (salaried) positions under are not eligible for overtime.

Serves as a steward for the University’s space resources, including working with Deans, Vice Presidents, Department Chairs, Directors, and Department Administrators to ensure allocation, utilization, and documentation of campus space is appropriately managed and recorded.Coordinates space management activities with the Deans and Vice Presidents for their respective schools and divisions, including developing and maintaining appropriate tools to facilitate the reporting of necessary statistical data for strategic decisions by the University Administration.Establishes and assists in maintaining space records, plans, files, and charts for effective space management and reporting.Conducts research to identify and establish future space requirements and needs.Stewards the ongoing assessment of data related to annual charges for space allocated to units throughout the University and works with administrative personnel in each unit to validate space data related to these charges.Manages projects focused on space management and space utilization.Performs all other duties as assigned.Additional Functions
Experience with space management, best practices, and standards; familiarity with the Postsecondary Education Facilities Inventory and Classification Manual (FICM) : 2006 Edition, and its application to classification and reporting on space inventories at institutions of higher educationCoordinates test script development for software upgrades and ongoing enhancements as applicable to space managementUses tools such as AutoCAD, Tableau, ArcGIS, Adobe Illustrator and Revit to support both facilities and campus usersAbility to oversee student workers as neededRice Mission and Values : Mission and Values | Rice University
