Job Description
Riceland Foods is hiring a Occupational Health Manager. The incumbent will be responsible for formulating and directing health care activities in all locations for both occupational and non-occupational medical problems. Incumbent also develops and administers medical policies and procedures, works with divisions to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and serves as a liaison between company, employees, attorneys, and Worker’s Compensation Commission. Incumbent will also be asked to solve numerous complex problems simultaneously. Expected to diffuse intense situations due to disgruntled employees failing Fitness for Work drug tests or health exams and be able to make quick decisions.
Job Duties
1. Work daily with managers and supervisors on employee health and safety issues as required.
2. Provide immediate and follow up care for employees who are ill or injured on the job.
3. Provide daily employee counseling on health matters.
4. Perform daily collection of federal and non-federal drug screens.
5. Develop and provide annual health education and training.
6. Manage the Department of Transportation program as the Designated Employee Representative.
7. Maintain the Respirator Compliance Program.
8. Develop and recommend policy and procedure improvements regarding health and safety issues.
9. Coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related procedural problems and inquiries.
10. Serve as the liaison between employees and insurance carriers.
11. Manage and maintain the Fitness for Work program.
12. Coordinate and manage Worker’s Compensation benefits.
13. To assist the divisions in complying with federal and state regulations concerning workplace health and safety matters, which may include developing procedures, conducting training, medical testing and evaluation, and providing required health care.
14. Train First Responders for headquarters in CPR/First Aid/AED annually.
15. Participate in monthly safety, accident prevention, and Human Resource meetings.
16. Maintain a CLIA qualified lab with quality control checks, logs, and inspections.
17. Perform spirometric testing for the respirator compliance program.
18. Perform audiometric hearing testing annually and for pre-employment physicals for OSHA compliance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be a RN (Registered Nurse) with an Associate of Science degree in Healthcare, Healthcare Administration, Nursing or Nursing Administration, or a related field, from a four-year college or university and three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of 19-23 months of management experience.
