Job Summary
The Richard A. Mola Public Library in Elmwood Park seeks a knowledgeable professional in Youth Services to assist in both its Children's and Teen (Young Adult) Departments. The part-time work schedule of up to 25 hours per week can include evening hours and rotation on.Saturdays. The ideal candidate must be creative, able to relate to children and teens, and have strong time-management skills.
Duties
- Plan, schedule, promote and implement a wide calendar of events appropriate for specific age groups.
- Conduct story time, crafts, creative play and educational sessions for younger children.
- Develop programs, activities, and sessions of interest to teens.
- Expand creative learning experiences with speakers, authors and outside performers.
- Provide reader's advisory services for children and teens.
- Prepare reading lists and relevant subject bibliographies for public distribution.
- Prepare and disseminate promotional flyers and other materials
- Contribute to the attractive appearance of the children's room and teen area through appropriate displays.
- Implement summer and other reading programs
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience in working with youth services or related fields.
- Consideration will be given to certified, experienced educators and MLS students with youth literacy experience in another setting. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. development.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Evenings as needed
- Monday to Friday
- Rotating weekends
