Product Engineer – Richards Industrials
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Reports to: Director of Engineering and Quality

The Position
Product Engineer
We seek a high-energy Engineer with strong design and manufacturing experience to help us fuel aggressive growth and new product development. The Product Engineer will have primary day-to-day responsibility for providing technical support and direction for existing product lines, identifying and improving performance, manufacturability, and cost of product line, and the design and development of new products and features. Duties and Responsibilities
Engineering
- Lead the upgrade of existing products to meet market or manufacturing requirements.
- Lead and direct Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) effort
- Generate design concepts and perform/supervise the design development, testing and introduction of new product features and special options, including liaison with manufacturing, purchasing, sales and marketing. Oversee the evaluation and testing of competitive products.
- Troubleshooting mechanical design issues during new product development and production.
- Model parts and assemblies when needed for new features and options.
- Develop Engineering standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Provide technical support and any other guidance required to Operations, Design Engineers, CAD operators, and technicians in the performance of the above duties.
- Support inside sales.
- Attend professional organization meetings (i.e., ASME) and/be involved with professional organizations that are applicable to a product line.
- Support manufacturing and marketing in the resolution of shop and customer problems.
- Advise and support sales and customers in the selection and application of products.
- Assist and support sales in the generation of sales literature and I&M procedures.
- Support Materials Department in the selection of vendors and purchased components.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline required.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on valve design and development.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including leading cross-functional teams and managing project timelines and budgets.
- Proven ability to innovate, problem-solve, and optimize product performance.
- Previous experience in with valves or flow control and/or pressure containing products in a manufacturing environment.
- Relevant certifications or professional memberships (e.g., Professional Engineer licensure) are a plus.
