What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Counselor position at Richford Elementary School?
Richford Elementary School is actively seeking a dedicated school counselor or school social worker to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with a student support team to fulfill the following responsibilities:
-Deliver guidance instruction integrated into the classroom setting, while also providing small group and individual school counseling services.
-Demonstrate effective collaboration with classroom teachers, establish partnerships with local service agencies, and foster strong relationships with families.
-Work effectively within collaborative teams, possessing knowledge of positive behavior interventions, multi-tiered supports, and Responsive Classroom practices.
-Demonstrate expertise in evidence-based and trauma-informed practices.
-Collaborate with other school-based professionals to help students develop skills in the five domains of academic, social, and emotional learning: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making through intensive individual and small group instruction.
Richford Elementary School has developed a comprehensive continuum of care tailored to meet the diverse needs of students in our PK-grade 5 classrooms. The selected candidate will be an integral part of a student support team that meets weekly to provide a multileveled system of support for students. This team includes a school social worker, behavior specialist, school psychologist, planning room coordinator, school-based behavior consultant, assistant principal, and principal. Collaboratively, this team makes informed decisions and implements individual, group, and programmatic changes for students and classrooms.

Franklin Northeast Supervisory Union (FNESU) is a Pre-K-12 system comprised of 6 rural towns in Northern Vermont; Bakersfield, Berkshire, Enosburg, Montgomery, Richford and Sheldon. FNESU consists of six Elementary Schools, two Middle Schools, two High Schools, and one Technical Career Center. FNESU serves approximately 1,950 students within our six towns. FNESU is situated in rural northwestern Vermont, which is the perfect setting for outdoor enthusiasts. We are located just 20 miles from Jay Peak Resort, 32 miles from Smuggler's Notch, and within driving distance to several other surrounding ski resorts.
