POSITION: Technology Support Technician
DEPARTMENT: Technology Department
LENGTH OF WORK: 12 months/yearly
REPORTS TO: Technology Director
Job Status: Full Time - Hourly Position
The selected candidate will provide technical support in a Pre-K to 12 educational environment. RBBCSC serves approximately 2,600 students and 300 staff members, all of whom use Google Workspace for daily lesson plans and communication. This role is full-time and will involve working within a team environment at various school locations.
Primary responsibilities:
- Implementation, Support, and Maintenance of the corporation's 1:1 environment
- Provide IT onboarding of new staff
- Answer phone calls that come into the helpdesk phone line and ticketing system
- Basic network troubleshooting
- Maintain and support other technology within the facilities and at corporate office
- Participates in the development and maintenance of departmental procedures
- Direct contact with our Users will be a day-to-day function. Strong communication and people skills are a requirement as well as periodic travel to all facilities.
- Maintains a high degree of confidentiality.
Secondary responsibilities:
- Recommend and implement technical processes and advancements to enhance the performance of the school corporation.
- Maintain strict security standards and principles at all times.
- Constant communication with colleagues and external users.
- Plan and deliver software platforms used across multiple products and organizational units.
- Train end-users on hardware functionality and software programs.
- Monitor hardware, software, and system performance metrics.
- Maintain multiple databases and ensure system security.
- Document processes and perform diagnostic tests.
- Stay up to date with technological advancements and trends in IT support.
- Have a basic understanding of Chromebooks and/or browser-based devices.
- Perform any other computer/technology activities as assigned by the Technology Director
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School, GED equivalent or higher with a preferred background in information technology or combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience with various operating systems and peripherals
- Two (2) years of technical experience with LAN/WAN networking; knowledge of and understanding of TCP/IP Protocol.
- The ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Strong written and verbal skill set
- Have a strong understanding of system and network administration principles, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions, and standards.
- Ability to solve simple to complex problems and troubleshooting that may result in not only a technology solution but possibly a process change solution
- Must have transportation to commute to all schools.
