What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Operator III position at Richland County Government?
ESSENTIAL TASKS
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Operates heavy equipment to excavate and compact earth, load / unload materials, move / haul materials, maintain County properties, cut down trees, install pipe, construct roads, and perform other general or specialized functions of various County departments.
May operate dump trucks and other trucks, motor graders, excavators, backhoe, slope mower and asphalt paving machine.
Often hauls equipment on the low-boy that weighs in excess of 80,000 pounds.
Manually loads / unloads materials onto vehicles; transports materials and equipment to/from work sites.
Uses hand and power tools in various manual tasks as required.
Inspects equipment to ensure proper and safe working condition; reports defects or required maintenance to the supervisor.
Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of assigned tools and equipment.
Performs all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.
Provides leadership to or assists co-workers with various duties as required. Maintains accurate and complete work records as required.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Must possess a valid state CDL driver’s license (Class “A”) with appropriate endorsements.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires over three years and up to and including five years
