JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting the Program Supervisor in planning, organizing, and delivering engaging and safe activities for children in afterschool and summer camp programs. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that all programs are well-structured, inclusive, and enriching for youth participants, contributing to a positive and memorable camp experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist in developing and maintaining camp schedules, activity plans, and program materials.
- Coordinate registration processes, including managing participant records, forms, and payments.
- Maintain organized documentation related to attendance, incident reports, and staff schedules.
- Prepare and distribute program communications, including emails, newsletters, and parent updates.
- Support the Program Supervisor in organizing training sessions, staff meetings, and program orientations.
- Assist in procurement and inventory management of supplies and materials.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and licensing requirements.
- Help schedule and coordinate field trips, guest speakers, and special events.
- Serve as a point of contact for parents, staff, and community partners regarding program logistics.
- Assist in training seasonal staff and volunteers on administrative procedures and program expectations.
- Provide feedback and reports to the Program Supervisor on program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Recreation, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in a school, camp, or similar setting.
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Experience in administrative support, program coordination, or recreation management preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database management.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to enforce established policies, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSE, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License to drive an RCRC vehicle, and produce an acceptable 10 year driving record.
- Must hold and maintain current Adult and Child CPR/First-Aid/AED certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work involves sitting or standing for long periods as required, may require walking for periodic intervals throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting up to 40 pounds, bend, and crouch, reach, hold, grasp and turn objects. Work requires the ability to speak normally, to use normal or aided vision and hearing. Worker may be required to demonstrate an athletic activity or physical exercise.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is typically performed in a safe and secure work environment (office-based role) that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands such as on-site program oversight. Requires working a flexible schedule and extended hours including weekends
