JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Technology Learning Coach at Richland County Recreation Commission (RCRC) plays a crucial role in integrating technology into community programs and fostering digital literacy among patrons. This position manages the daily activities of the technology centers, develops and conducts training programs, and ensures the effective use of technology resources within RCRC facilities. The Technology Learning Coach will collaborate with the IT team, department heads, and community members to enhance technological accessibility and digital learning opportunities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Manage daily operations of the technology centers to ensure smooth and efficient functioning.
- Develop and implement comprehensive technology training programs tailored to community needs.
- Assist community members in using RCRC’s technology resources, including computers, internet access, and digital tools.
- Design and conduct digital literacy workshops on topics such as basic computer skills, cybersecurity, online job applications, and personal development.
- Work closely with the IT department to assess technology needs and enhance access to digital tools.
- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support for computers, software, and related equipment.
- Stay informed about emerging technology trends and best practices to continuously improve learning experiences.
- Develop instructional materials and user guides to support community members in technology usage.
- Ensure adherence to RCRC’s IT policies, including cybersecurity and acceptable use guidelines.
- Offer individualized coaching and support for patrons requiring specialized technology assistance.
- Research and assist in identifying grant opportunities and funding sources for technology-related programs.
- Participate in community outreach events and RCRC initiatives to promote digital literacy.
- Perform administrative duties such as maintaining records, tracking program participation, and preparing reports.
- Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree on a year-for-year basis.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in instructional technology, adult education, IT training, or a related field.
- Experience in developing and conducting technology training programs for diverse audiences preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of educational technology tools, digital learning platforms, and instructional design principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, and other productivity software.
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and responsible internet usage.
- Ability to design and deliver engaging technology workshops to a variety of audiences.
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to assess community technology needs and provide effective training solutions.
- Strong problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSE, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Technology-related certifications (e.g., Google Educator, Microsoft Certified Trainer) preferred.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License to drive an RCRC vehicle, and produce an acceptable 10 year driving record.?
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is light work and requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force to move objects; work may also require handling, hearing, mental acuity, repetitive motion, speaking, standing for extended periods, talking, and visual acuity for data and color.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is typically performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands. May include occasional evening and weekend events or training sessions.
