Primary Purpose:
Partner with the campus High School Librarian to provide resources that allow students to develop skills in design thinking to solve problems in a makerspace environment. Serve as teacher, materials expert, and curriculum adviser to ensure that technological resource and design thinking extends classroom learning.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology or related field
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in High School
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of TEKS, district curriculum, design thinking, and instructional technology.
Knowledge of effective design and presentation strategies for adult and student learners
Knowledge of ISTE Standards Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a campus team
Ability to instruct and manage learner behavior
Experience:
Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching with experience in design thinking and the implementation of instructional resources to extend learning.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Partners with the High School Librarian to support and extend learning opportunities for students in a maker space environment.
2. Supports teachers in allowing students to collaborate with educators, students, and others outside of the school environment on projects that underscore future ready skills and design thinking.
3. Commits to and seeks out opportunities to expand knowledge of, and experience with, future-ready skills, instructional technology, and design-thinking strategies that are aligned to curriculum and/or extends learning objectives.
4. Model and mentor the use of the use of technology in the design thinking process.
5. Comply with all district policies and participate in campus activities and meetings.
6. Perform all other duties as assigned by campus administrators, directors, and district administration.
7. Carries out the mission and vision of the campus, department, and district.
Instructional Partner
8. Partners with instructional staff and leads the school community in all areas of digital citizenship; teaches and promotes student data safety and privacy through instruction and role as an educational leader.
9. Guides students and staff in the safe, ethical, legal, and effective use of resources.
10. Collaborates and co-teaches with all grade levels and content areas in a variety of instructional settings.
11. Empowers all members of the learning community to be creators, risk-takers, and comfortable with failure as part of the learning process.
12. Attends and contributes to teacher collaborative team meetings as appropriate.
13. Partner with the High School Librarian to lead, support, and coach the school staff in achieving future-ready instructional goals.
14. Fosters and advocates for a culture of collaboration, innovation, capacity building, and empowerment within the school community.

15. Grows capacity in colleagues, at the campus and district levels, through professional learning and embedded support specific to the role of instructional technology and future ready skills.
16. Applies a current understanding of instructional models for adult learners to design and implement professional learning based on campus and district needs.

18. Maintains positive customer service skills and relationships with all stakeholders.
19. Models ethical and legal use of learning resources.
Administration
20. Advise the High School Librarian on budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
21. Complies with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Complies with all district and campus routines and regulations.
Other Duties
26. Partner with the High School Librarian to Manage the Future Ready student leadership program
27. Comply with all district policies and participate in campus activities and meetings.
28. Perform all other duties as assigned by campus administration, director of libraries and district administration.
