What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Teacher (2025-26 School Year) position at Richland School District?
Minimum Qualifications & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
- Valid California teaching credential authorizing service in grade levels and areas assigned.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Must meet highly qualified teacher requirements.
- Must have ELL authorization.
- Must be able to work effectively with administrators, staff, parents, and community.
- Teaches music appreciation, harmony, and explorations in vocal music.
- Plans and implements a balanced music program.
- Develops instructional plans and organizes class time so preparation, rehearsal, and instruction are accomplished.
- Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities being carried on simultaneously.
- Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary.
- Instructs students in the proper care and use of materials and equipment storage, and controls the storage and use of school-owned music department property to prevent loss or abuse.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior required to provide an orderly and productive environment for teaching and learning.
- Evaluates each student’s performance and musical growth in knowledge and understanding, and prepares progress reports.
- Plans, rehearses, and direct students in musical programs for the school and the community.
- Selects and requisitions books, accompaniment instruments, and instruction aids; and maintains inventory records.
- Communicates with parents, school administrators, and school counselors on student progress, holds parent conferences to discuss the school program and individual pupils progress.
- Cooperates with school administration in providing musical programs for school productions and civic functions.
- Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the methods by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with District guidelines.
- Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities.
- Performs basic attendance accounting as required.
- Maintains grading system with substantiated grades for students.
- Participates in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.
Salary : $55,011 - $100,081
