Music Teacher (2025-26 School Year)

• Bachelor’s Degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
• Valid California teaching credential authorizing service in grade levels and areas assigned.
• Prior teaching experience preferred.
• Must meet highly qualified teacher requirements.
• Must have ELL authorization.
• Must be able to work effectively with administrators, staff, parents, and community.

• Teaches music appreciation, harmony, and explorations in vocal music.
• Plans and implements a balanced music program.
• Develops instructional plans and organizes class time so preparation, rehearsal, and instruction are accomplished.
• Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
• Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities being carried on simultaneously.
• Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary.
• Instructs students in the proper care and use of materials and equipment storage, and controls the storage and use of school-owned music department property to prevent loss or abuse.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior required to provide an orderly and productive environment for teaching and learning.
• Evaluates each student’s performance and musical growth in knowledge and understanding, and prepares progress reports.
• Plans, rehearses, and direct students in musical programs for the school and the community.
• Selects and requisitions books, accompaniment instruments, and instruction aids; and maintains inventory records.
• Communicates with parents, school administrators, and school counselors on student progress, holds parent conferences to discuss the school program and individual pupils progress.
• Cooperates with school administration in providing musical programs for school productions and civic functions.
• Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
• Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the methods by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with District guidelines.
• Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities.
• Performs basic attendance accounting as required.
• Maintains grading system with substantiated grades for students.
• Participates in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.

Salary : $55,011 - $100,081
