Description
The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is seeking an energetic, innovative, and progressive Licensed Nurse Practitioner to serve the Richmond community in our RICH Primary Care Clinic . The selected incumbent will perform complex advanced human support work in the care and treatment of patients in a public health program, performing patient assessments and evaluations, determining diagnoses, prescribing medications, ordering and interpreting lab results, providing education and counseling, making referrals, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the assigned Program Director.
Essential Functions
- Provides client treatment; assesses clients; diagnoses disorders and health problems;
- Establishes and modifies medical / behavioral health treatment plans;
- Prescribes medication;
- Monitors client's response to treatment including medication side effects and adverse reactions;
- Orders and interprets lab results; administers injections and completes lab work;
- Educates clients on health promotion, prevention and treatment recommendations;
- Provides supportive counseling and nonpharmacological strategies to manage symptoms;
- Reviews and documents direct and patient related services in the EHR;
- Prepares progress notes and evaluations; completes prior authorizations and paperwork as requested;
- Communicates and collaborates with interdisciplinary team including case managers, care coordinators, clinicians, psychiatrists, mental health support workers, health educator, etc. in order to provide the highest level of care for patients;
- Provides oversight of integrated wellness program including developing curriculum, policies and procedures;
Facilitates wellness groups as appropriate; and
Participates in administrative and clinical staff meetings as required.
Position Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of general medical care and treatment of clients with acute and chronic medical conditions; Basic knowledge of psychiatric disorders and their treatments; Thorough knowledge of pharmacological treatments utilized in the management of acute and chronic medical conditions; Skill in the operation of general and specialized equipment used in the area of assignment; Ability to perform and document History and Physicals; Ability to understand, interpret, and relate oral and written instruction; Ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and family members, medical personnel, insurance providers, other employees and the general public; Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, and computer proficiency with electronic health record required; Basic knowledge of grant development and data collection and management; and ability to work closely with the integrated medical / behavioral healthcare team for RICH Recovery.
Education and Experience
Master's degree with coursework in nursing, or related field and at least 5 years' experience as a nurse including some supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in working with individuals with serious mental illness and substance use disorders required.
Special Requirements
Registered Nurse, Licensed Nurse Practitioner, Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner, Prescriptive Authority license, Drug Enforcement Administration registration and National Provider Identification.
Licensed Physician Assitant will also be considered.
DATA-waiver (Medication-Assisted Treatment) practitioners strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants willing to participate in training requirements will be considered.
Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Ability to provide on-call and weekend coverage as needed.
