Primary Duty
The Lead Network Services manages and oversees the Richmond County School System’s LAN/WAN/WLAN infrastructure, firewalls, routers, switches, IP addressing, and VPNs, while ensuring secure and reliable connectivity across all district facilities. This position also oversees data center operations, including server virtualization, storage systems, backup solutions, and disaster recovery processes. Additionally, the Lead Network Services oversees the implementation of cybersecurity best practices and ensures that security tasks are carried out effectively to protect network infrastructure, safeguard sensitive data, and maintain compliance with applicable policies and regulations, including CIPA and FERPA. In addition to the core infrastructure responsibilities, the Lead Network Services will provide leadership and oversight for the operational effectiveness of enterprise business systems and instructional technology platforms that support students' academic engagement.

- Lead, support, and provide direction for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Richmond County School System’s network infrastructure, educational systems, business systems, and related services.
- Lead and oversee efforts to evaluate, monitor, maintain, and optimize network and systems performance and availability to improve reliability and efficiency, and support the overall organizational operations.
- Lead and oversee efforts to implement security best practices that protect the network infrastructure, data, systems, and connected devices from unauthorized access, threats, and vulnerabilities.
- Lead and oversee network-related projects from initiation to completion, including upgrades, expansions, and migrations.
- Provide after-hours support as needed for high-impact network incidents or critical infrastructure changes, including coordinating with technical teams and escalating issues to ensure timely resolution and continuity of operations.
- Lead and oversee the creation and maintenance of comprehensive network-related documentation, including network diagrams, configuration backups, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and a change control process to support operational continuity and knowledge transfer.
- Lead and coordinate the development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans (DRPs) for network infrastructure systems and data center operations to ensure business continuity and minimize downtime during emergencies or system failures.
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of the network team by coordinating task assignments, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely completion of projects and support tickets, while also providing input on professional development and annual performance evaluations.
- Provide after-hours support as needed for high-impact network incidents or critical infrastructure changes, including organizing and directing technical teams, assigning responsibilities, managing timelines, and ensuring clear communication to achieve timely resolution and maintain continuity of operations.
- Lead and oversee asset and inventory management by ensuring accurate records of all network equipment, including IP addresses, licenses, serial numbers, and related infrastructure to support lifecycle management and operational efficiency.
- Participate in budget planning and vendor management activities related to networking equipment and services, including evaluating vendor proposals, managing contracts, and ensuring cost-effective procurement aligned with organizational needs.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards in all network operations activities.
