The Richmond R-XVI School District is currently seeking a Head Varsity Cross Country Coach.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Head Varsity Cross Country Coach (7-12)
- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures
- Instructs and demonstrates skills sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in cross country
- Shall be responsible for overseeing and promoting the entire 7-12 cross country program
- Shall be responsible for overseeing and mentoring 7-12 cross country coaches
- Improves the program by encouraging students to participate in the sport at all levels
- Establishes off-season activities that include:
- Summer camp(s)
- Open gym sessions
- Training (weights/agility)
- Shall attend coaching clinics when appropriate
- Establishes practice schedules with athletic director
- Regularly attends practices and games
- Develops and prepares detailed scouting reports
- Notifies parents and athletic director if an injury occurs
- Completes all year end reports:
- Letter award winners
- Season records
- Inventory
- All conference, district, state honors
- Conducts and organizes end-of-year awards ceremony
- Communicates effectively with athletic department, parents, school officials, community, and media
- Assists the athletic director with scheduling of games
- Conducts eligibility checks on student-athletes as outlined in district activities handbook
- Arranges for building usage (gym)
- Prepares rosters and presents to athletic director
- Maintains accurate inventories
- Directs assistant coaches
- Evaluates assistant coaches
- Arranges transportation departure times for games and activities
- Travels with student athletes on the team bus both to and from games with the exception for scouting a future opponent
- Adheres to all financial policies of the District in regard to the collection and disbursement of money, expenses, and receipts
- Maintains a safe environment, facilities, equipment for student athletes at all times
- Ensures that proper form(s) (insurance, physicals, attendance) are obtained and current
- Enforces discipline policies and emphasizes sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles
- Attends MSHSAA sanctioned rules meetings
- Attends Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC) meetings
- Attends seeding meetings for tournament games
- Complies with all policies and regulations as stated in the activities handbook
- Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, fellow coaches, and officials and resolves conflict in a professional manner
- Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records and inquiries
- Keeps an open line of communication with the athletic director
