Job Title : Senior Claims Examiner
Location : On-site in Glen Allen, VA office
Overview :
We are in search of an entrepreneurial and innovative individual who will be responsible for directing all aspects of claim handling from first notice to file closure with a focus on complex general liability and excess matters as well as construction defect. The Senior Claims Examiner will strategically partner with counsel, experts, and vendors, all while driving optimal claim resolutions. The Senior Claims Examiner will analyze and determine coverage, write comprehensive coverage letters, manage proactive claim investigations, develop litigation strategy, evaluate the overall claim value, communicate promptly with internal and external stakeholders, and pursue recoveries and risk transfer where warranted. Potential to handle other lines of business including, but not limited to Allied Health, Product Liability, Professional Liability, Management Liability, and Public Entity.
In this position you will :
- Thoroughly investigate and assess claims for coverage, liability and damages and pursue risk transfer, contribution, and subrogation opportunities.
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of coverage issues, policy forms, contracts, regulatory requirements, and changing legal landscape for casualty claims.
- Proactively and promptly manage claims with a strategic vision for optimal claim outcome.
- Continually evaluate claims to set appropriate and timely reserves over the life of the claim to reflect changes in exposure.
- Demonstrate strong technical claims proficiency through consistent execution of best claim practices.
- Strategically coordinate and manage outside counsel and vendors to obtain optimal claim outcome.
- Present high exposure claims to Claims Leadership and Key Stakeholders.
- Attend settlement conferences as needed.
- Collaborate with internal and external business partners regarding product development.
- Work to improve claim efficiencies and outcomes.
