Position Overview:
This individual will play a critical role in identifying and sourcing procured components-both for new designs and existing product lines-based on technical specifications and operational needs. The Sourcing Engineer will serve as a technical bridge between Engineering and Purchasing, ensuring part selections meet functional, cost, and availability requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with design engineers to source new procured parts based on detailed technical requirements.
- Identify and propose suitable alternative components in cases of obsolescence, extended lead times, or availability concerns.
- Evaluate sourcing options for cost reduction opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
- Enter and maintain new procured part data in RICO's CloudSuite Industrial (CSI) ERP system, including initial quoting and supplier information.
- Provide technical support to the Purchasing team, interpreting specifications, drawings, and requirements to assist in sourcing and supplier communications.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma with 6 years of experience in technical sourcing or a related role or a college degree in a relevant engineering or sourcing discipline (e.g., mechanical, or electrical engineering, industrial technology, supply chain engineering).
- Demonstrated ability to comprehend and translate engineering drawings, specifications, and functional requirements into practical sourcing solutions.
- Basic working knowledge of:
- Mechanical systems and component selection
- Electrical and electronic components
- Fluid power (hydraulic/pneumatic) systems
- Experience working in an ERP system (experience with CloudSuite Industrial (Syteline) is a plus).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or reading CAD models and prints
- Experience working with suppliers in custom or low-volume manufacturing environments
- Understanding of BOM structures, part lifecycle management, and supplier qualification processes
