As a Delivery & Set Up Driver, you will play a pivotal role in the efficient and safe pick-up, relocation, and delivery of office equipment. Your professionalism and the quality of your service can significantly influence future customer decisions. This role may involve installation and networking of equipment, as well as providing basic training to customers on the delivered devices. Compliance with all federal DOT requirements and adherence to Delivery Safety Standards is a must.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:Safely deliver equipment to the correct location.
Maintain log books in compliance with DOT regulations (Electronic or manual).
- Conduct pre and post trip reviews to ensure vehicle safety and cleanliness, in compliance with DOT and state laws.
- Perform pick-up of products during deliveries to minimize costs.
- Execute basic installations, including setting up IP addresses, downloading print drivers, removing hard drives, backing up and uploading customer address books, and providing basic customer training on printing devices.
- Participate in Safety Programs.
- Pre-call customers as needed.
- Achieve expected productivity levels based on workload and experience.
- Demonstrate technical skills and excellent customer relations.
- Identify customer needs and take appropriate actions; refer calls to the appropriate party.
- Provide constructive feedback to service and process teams regarding networking and installation initiatives.
- Complete technical training on new equipment as required.
- Maintain professional appearance in driver uniform.
- Contact Dispatch or the service department if a technician is needed.
- Ensure equipment is configured according to Bill of Lading, traveler, or other documentation.
- Properly load and secure equipment in the truck.
- Use a phone to capture electronic customer signatures upon transaction completion.
- Ensure all paperwork is signed and properly processed.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks as needed.
- Train new Delivery Drivers on new products and proper loading techniques.
- Follow all accident/incident reporting guidelines and procedures.
- Conduct cycle counts and inventory reconciliation as required.
- Reconcile inventory at the end of the day based on route completion and report discrepancies.
- Meet productivity and quality standards set by the manager.
- Handle inventory valued up to $1,000,000.
- Overnight stays may be required.
- Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklift, stair climber, pallet jack).
Required:
- Safe driving record and history.
- Online technical training focused on networking and installation.
- On-the-job training with field technicians at customer locations or Transfer Centers.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle according to FMCSR regulations.
- Valid driver's license in accordance with company policy.
- Minimum of two years of medium-duty truck driving experience.
- Pass a road test.
- Valid and current medical card.
- At least 20 years of age with proper licensing in current state of residence.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Valid commercial driver's license if required by state.
- Ability to read maps and use electronic GPS.
- Overnight stays may be required based on DOT regulations or peak periods.
- Capable of physically handling oversized and overweight equipment.
- Quick identification and correction of at-risk behaviors.
- Strong customer presentation and communication skills.
- Familiar with smart phones and tablets for electronic technology.
- Basic computer skills and adequate technical skills for installing/networking equipment.
- Methodical approach to resolving day-to-day problems.
- Adequate reading, math skills, and legible writing.
- Certification on warehouse equipment operation if required.
Risk of serious injuries if proper lifting or moving procedures and road rules are not followed.
Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling required for servicing equipment at floor level.
Physical effort needed to lift equipment up to 100 pounds and move equipment weighing up to 1000 pounds.
Diverse work assignments in office, warehouse, and van/truck environments with adequate lighting, ventilation, and normal temperature and noise levels.
Exposure to chemical solvents and cleaners.
Ability to work independently.
