Ride Connection is seeking a compassionate and reliable individual to join the team as a full-time driver for RCB Wapato Shores Accessible Transportation. As a Driver, you will play a vital role in providing safe and dependable transportation services to older adults, people with disabilities, and others in our community as part of NEMT (Non Emergency Medical Transportation) services. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who rely on our services for their mobility needs.
This is a non-exempt position with a position salary range of $21.48 - $30.24 per hour. Starting pay is based on experience with most drivers starting at $21.48 per hour.
This position will work four days a week, 10 hours a day with three days off (at least two will be in a row). This position has a potential for additional overtime hours. This position will be driving one of our larger passenger vans, and occasionally may be asked to drive a smaller bus, No CDL required
What You’ll Do
- Safely transport customers to and from their destinations, which includes medical appointments, grocery shopping, social outings, and other errands.
- Transport customers according to the schedule and/or instructions given by the Program Manager or Dispatcher.
- Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle using ramp or lifts, secures mobility devices, and assists exiting vehicle and escorting into destination or facility.
- Ensures customer comfort and safety throughout the journey
- Provide friendly and respectful customer service, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations, and exercise caution while driving, especially when transporting passengers with mobility challenges.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, including monitoring and maintaining proper vehicle fuel levels.
- Maintain customer confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (Preference given to applicants with no more than two infractions in a three year look back)
- A minimum of 5 years driving experience as recorded by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds safely and secure wheelchairs safely in enclosed spaces.
- Ability to access reliable transportation.
- Experience and comfort with using smartphones, and tablets.
- Ability to pass a National Criminal Record Check which includes fingerprint identification. If a record exists, the nature and severity of charges will be discussed with candidates and, in some cases, may not be a barrier to employment.
This position is required to perform “Safety Sensitive” duties per Federal Transit Administration (FTA) guidelines. When required the employee assigned to this position must participate and remain in compliance with the FTA Drug and Alcohol testing program, including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident testing.

- Previous experience working as a driver, preferably in a customer service-oriented role or operating a large vehicle.
- Experience, lived or otherwise, working with older adults and people with disabilities.
