What are the responsibilities and job description for the Strategic Sourcing Specialist position at RIDE Mobility?
The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for managing the production components of vehicle from conception through execution, interacting cross-functionally with key counterparts and teams to ensure products deliver the desired brand value while meeting quality standards, regulatory requirements, cost targets, and delivery timelines. They will lead, direct, and manage activities throughout the whole process to support stakeholders and internal teams Partner with
stakeholders, executive leaders and department heads to understand business needs, establish
requirements, scope and criteria for procurement projects, drive continuous improvement activities and cost negotiation initiatives Customers as needed to maintain margins and/or leverage spending efficiencies as well as relevant commercial terms.
• Independently source components, materials and suppliers assigned by quickly ascertaining project requirements, working with Engineers, stakeholders and suppliers to develop and/or identify the right products at the most optimal solution by evaluating quality, costs, terms, lead time, risk mitigation, flexibility, availability and adhering to project timelines etc. Creatively balance design requests with cost efficiency and
operational efficiencies to produce win-win solutions.
• Independently lead the negotiation of contracts, including MSAs and other business terms with internal business stakeholders and the legal department. Ensure all negotiated terms are favorable for the company while minimizing risks and ensuring alignment with project and operational goals.
• Manage and Monitor Procurement projects timely including design developing, sampling, testing, validation, bidding, negotiation, and approval milestones are completed in a timely and efficient manner, in alignment with project timelines to ensure quality standards are met and delays are avoided.
• Build strategic partnerships with key suppliers to optimize profitability, increase on-time delivery, and improve quality. Evaluate existing supplier relationships to expand reliable primary and secondary sources while promoting competition and uninterrupted supply.
• Incorporate knowledge across the vehicle industry, including developing spending analysis, supply market assessment, and product availability; understanding related commodities that can affect prices of designated products. Build industry knowledge and expertise within and outside of the Supply Chain department.
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies to sustain ongoing category improvements to reduce costs and optimize the manufacturability of components.
• Collect and interpret procurement data including cost analysis reporting, benchmarking spending data, and return on investment.
• Conduct market research and vendor profiles to aid supplier selection. Create, issue and manage RFQs and/or RFPs, proposal negotiation, evaluation and vendor recommendation for management decision making.
• Continuously assist supervisor/management to improve sourcing and workflow tools.
