What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal for a Family Law Firm position at Rider Goodwin Law Offices, LLC.?
Rider Goodwin Law was founded to be a place where people love the work they do and the people they work with. Our firm is a place where people feel valued and respected, and where we are motivated primarily by the meaning in our work - changing lives for the better.
When you join Rider Goodwin Law, you are joining a team that empowers our clients through family-focused advocacy and support. By practicing law differently, we not only help individuals and children move towards happier, healthier futures, but we also contribute to better functioning, thriving communities. We also know that when we practice law differently, we improve the perception people have of the Family Law profession. Being a positive example is important to us.
The ways that we are different from other firms are too long to list here -- but at the heart of what makes us different are our values. These are our values, and how we bring them to life in service of our clients and one another.
- Effective: We are effective for our clients because we are proactive, educational, and client and child focused. Internally, this means that while every case is different, we have well defined expectations of our responsibilities so that we practice law in a consistent manner for every client.
- Compassionate: We know that our clients are facing difficult and emotional choices, and that we can be a resource to alleviate their anxiety, fear and pain. We are dedicated to the long-term well-being of our clients and their children. Internally, we have compassion for ourselves and one another. Self-care is a priority in our firm, as is team-work. Both of these focuses help us show up and do our best work every day.
- Family-Focused: As counsel for our clients, we encourage courses of action that minimize unnecessary pain and conflict. We know that the best representation we provide our clients includes avoiding short-term thinking and advocating for the long-term benefits to the children and the family. Internally, our family focus extends beyond the way we practice law. It also reaches to how we show up in our community. We have an active philanthropy in our community and we support several family-oriented organizations including CASA, The Children’s Museum of Denver and Project Safeguard.
- Integrity: We have a responsibility to educate and prepare our clients for the legal process and the decisions they will face. We give our clients the right long-term advice. We are guided by ethics and our behavior is in alignment with these values. Internally, integrity means that we bill ethically, we never under or over work. We say no to cases that are not a fit for our firm.
- Dependable: We cannot predict the future nor guarantee the outcomes of Family Law matters. What we do guarantee is to be with our clients each and every step of the way in their process. Internally, this is simple. We do what we say we will do.
- Empowerment: Family Law cases are filled with unknowns and uncertainties. Educating our clients about the available options and the potential consequences, good and bad, allows our clients to make informed decisions about their future. Internally, we demonstrate the value of empowerment by embracing the individuality of every person on the team. We respect each person’s talents and encourage individual discretion in how they execute their responsibilities.
