Ridgeback Recruiting is seeking a Marine Debris Specialist on behalf of our client, a mission-driven organization dedicated to protecting ocean ecosystems and coastal communities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support marine debris removal efforts in Alaska , working closely with local communities, Indigenous partners, and environmental experts to facilitate cleanup initiatives and ensure responsible waste disposal.

What You’ll Do :

  • Coordinate marine debris cleanup operations, working with local communities and partners.
  • Facilitate transportation logistics for debris removal, liaising with barge companies, recyclers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Track and document cleanup progress, ensuring accurate data collection and reporting.
  • Develop outreach materials, reports, and blog content to highlight program efforts.
  • Represent the program at regional meetings, working groups, and conferences.
  • Support administrative tasks, including managing small project budgets and drafting funding proposals.
  • Conduct research to strengthen conservation initiatives and program strategies.
  • What You Bring :

  • 2-4 years of experience in environmental conservation, marine debris removal, or community engagement.
  • Experience working with Alaska Native communities and a strong understanding of coastal conservation challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage logistics and data tracking.
  • Excellent communication skills , including writing reports and developing outreach materials.
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion , ensuring respectful collaboration with Indigenous and local partners.
  • Flexibility to travel to Alaska’s coastal regions during peak project periods.
  • Compensation :

    Salary is expected to be $65,000 , with consideration given to experience, skills, and location.
