Overview
The OR Nurse Manager plays a critical role in overseeing nursing staff and ensuring high-quality patient care within the OR. This leadership position requires a blend of clinical expertise and management skills to effectively coordinate nursing activities, maintain standards of care, and support the professional development of nursing personnel. The Nurse Manager is responsible for fostering a positive work environment while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and best practices.
Duties
- Supervise and manage nursing staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations, QAPI.
- Develop and implement nursing care policies and procedures to ensure adherence to established standards.
- Oversee patient care activities, ensuring that all patients receive appropriate assessments, treatments, and follow-up care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Monitor patient outcomes and quality of care metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Manage specialized areas such as Femto Laser Room, Endoscopy Room
- Prepares clinical staffing schedules in accordance with vacations, holidays, daily personnel assignments and duties according to experience and skill level to provide quality patient care; reviews and adjusts assignments as needed based on daily activity
- Circulating cases required, scrubbing a plus!
Skills
- Strong knowledge of nursing standards and best practices in various specialties including pediatrics, ENT, Pain Management, Ophthalmology and GI.
- Proficient in triage techniques to prioritize patient needs effectively.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide nursing staff.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to manage complex situations involving patients with developmental disabilities or requiring specialized memory care approaches.
- Commitment to continuous professional development for self and team members.
