What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish Teacher - Preschool-Grade 3 position at Ridgefield Academy?
Beginning with the 2025-2026 academic year, Ridgefield Academy (a PS-8 independent school located in Ridgefield, CT) is seeking a full-time Spanish teacher to teach Preschool 3s through 3rd grade. This position is responsible for creating a Spanish language program and class environment favorable to learning and growth appropriate for preschool and lower school students. The ideal candidate is passionate about the Spanish language and culture in Spanish-speaking countries around the world. This candidate would demonstrate a strong knowledge of current language teaching methods, a student-centered approach, and a desire to incorporate technology into classroom practice.

Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm

Primary Responsibilities (including But Not Limited To)
- Teach Spanish classes for preschool and lower school students
- Demonstrate a passion for teaching students of early education
- Proficiency in Spanish and Spanish-language instruction
- Enthusiasm for teaching about culture in Spanish-speaking nations
- Employ forward-thinking instructional methods to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Develop and coordinate curriculum with other language teachers
- Find and develop interdisciplinary opportunities with other classroom teachers
- Conduct a student-centered and collaborative classroom environment
- Engage in continued professional development
- Contribute to the life of the school beyond the classroom including: lunch duty, arrival/dismissal or bus duty
- At least 5 years of experience teaching preschool or lower school students
- Bachelor’s or Graduate level degree in Spanish or Education
- Demonstrated expertise in pedagogical best practices and current teaching methodology appropriate for young learners
