Job description
Position: The Social Services Director is responsible for coordinating/developing, conceptualizing and designing a theoretically and clinically sound treatment program for all patient programs to include policies and procedures.
Education/Experience: Prefer graduate from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling.
Duties:
- Demonstrates the ability to coordinate/develop conceptualize and design a theoretically and clinically sound treatment program for all patient programs to include policies and procedures.
- Provides clinical leadership and supervision to the Social Services Staff including communication of new policy/procedure/directive staff.
- Assists in developing and implementing Quality Improvement Program to gather clinical data used for monitoring the effectiveness of the treatment including the completion of all DCF and Mental Health Outcome Measures Reports and assures timely submission of same.
- Collaborates with other internal departments to facilitate the effective operation of the treatment program and the hospital.
- Function as hospital liaison with the community as well as external groups and agencies. Provide liaison and coordination with referring agents through an organized feedback system.
- Provides development, education and training for Social Services Department.
- Knowledge of appropriate standards and regulations for accrediting and regulatory agencies, i.e. JCAHO, DCF, State and Federal agencies.
- Knowledge of human behavior, psychology and mental health issues.
- Knowledge of specific interventions and de-escalation techniques.
- Coordinate treatment with referrals and outside agencies.
- Coordinate discharge planning with families, program treatment teams and other community resources.
- Displays ability to act in a supervisory role to Social Services Staff.; conducts interviewing and selection of new employees; conducts performance appraisals and disciplinary action as needed.
- Performs special projects when required and requested.
- Conducts Performance Improvement activities including studies and audits for Social Services Department.
- Displays the ability to work with patients, families, Courts, community referrals and hospital staff.
- Knowledge of patient rights related to Baker Act, emergency admission procedures, involuntary placement, etc.
- Ability to formulate therapeutic relationships. Presents and oversees individual psychotherapy, patient education, marital, family psychotherapy groups as prescribed by specific treatment protocol.
- Displays ability to verbalize ethical, clinically and administratively sound judgment; shows ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Displays knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Demonstrates ability to work with others.
