What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant/LPN Dermatology position at Ridgeview Medical Center Health System?
Purpose of Job
This casual position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities to assist providers and nursing personnel in a specialty clinic. Facilitates patient/physician/provider communication and coordination of care.
Job Functions
- Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR.
- Supports physicians in documentation of patient's visit by entering physician's dictation into the EMR system during the patient's visit.
- Administers prescribed medications/vaccines and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure.
- Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients.
- Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day.
- Performs specialty procedures/tests as directed by the Physician
- Helps maintain stocked supplies and sterilizes instruments/exam room.
- Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary.
- Provides patient education.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
- Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability effectively handle high-stress fast paced environment
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner
- Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations

Minimum Education/Work Experience
- Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing
License/Certifications
- Current LPN Licensure or Certified Medical Assistance (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (new graduates will have 1 year to become certified/licensed in order to maintain employment)
- Current CPR certification
