What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant/LPN Urgent Care position at Ridgeview Medical Center Health System?
Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care related activities including: assisting the providers. This is a casual position. May also perform lab functions as required.
Job Functions
When performing nursing support functions
- Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure
- Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients
- Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day
- Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary
- Assists with patient education
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education/Work Experience/License/Certifications
- Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing
- Graduate of clinical laboratory program and/or ability to display and complete job competencies
- Current LPN Licensure or Medical Assistant (MA) or Registered Assistant (RMA) (LPNs will have 1 year to become certified in order to maintain employment)
- Current CPR certification
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner
- Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work autonomously and as a team
- Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
