What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Officer I position at Ridgeview Medical Center Health System?
Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for performing the duties of patrolling and securing facility, buildings and grounds.
Job Functions
- Performs essential security functions to protect the assets of Ridgeview Medical Center from loss, damage, and /or unauthorized access.
- Patrols and provides escorts at assigned locations.
- Fulfill key responsibilities during organization’s management of emergency plans.
- Respond to security emergencies as well as various calls for service and assist as needed
- Monitors critical building security systems such as cameras, alarms, access controls, etc.
- Maintains and properly operates equipment including radio, emergency vehicle, and assigned use of force equipment
- Cites non-compliance related to administrative policies such as smoking, parking, and regulations related to safety and security
- Successfully complete all required training (ASP, MOAB, Taser, ICS 100 & 200, etc.)
- Complete daily logs and incident reports
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years old in order to meet Ridgeview’s insurability requirements
- Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
- Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in the English language and respond accordingly in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
License/Certifications
- CPR/First Aid (within 6 months of hire) annually
- Valid MN driver’s license and meets Ridgeview’s insurability requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- International Association of Healthcare Safety Security (IAHSS) Basic Level
- Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) (within 6 months of hire)
- Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200 (within 1 year of hire)
- OSHA HAZWOPER Certification (within 1-year of hire) Annually
- Dynamic Encounters
- TASER, ASP, Repuls/AIP, Management of Aggressive Behaviors (M.O.A.B)
Compensation
Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity. Pay listed does not include any shift, weekend, or other differentials.
