What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Room Nurse - Overnight Shift position at Ridgeview Medical Center?
Ridgeview provides exceptional emergency care and ambulance services, supported by on-site diagnostic imaging, dedicated trauma bays, a helicopter pad, and surgical and critical-care specialists.
This position will work the Day or Evening Shift (48 hours per pay period) with the excellent opportunity to grow into a Charge Nurse. Will work every third weekend and every third holiday.
Job Functions:
- Assesses patient health problems needs and develops & implements patient care plans.
- Advises and educates patients, family members and significant others on health maintenance and disease prevention for the patient.
- Documents and maintains accurate medical records and reports.
- Participates in quality improvement activities as appropriate to position.
- Serves as a patient advocate in seeking appropriate community resources to meet patient needs.
- Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers, other healthcare providers, and colleagues to enhance own professional nursing practice.
- Manages flow of patients through inpatient and/or outpatient departments.
- Assigns resources to care for patients and arranges staffing to ensure safe patient care.
- Provides work direction and addresses issues during the shift.
- Acts as a liaison between staff, patients, and physicians.
- Demonstrates unit specific Charge Nurse competencies.
- Review Physician orders.
Minimum Education/Work Experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- 2 years of RN experience on a medical/surgical unit OR 1 year RN experience in an Emergency Department or Critical Care unit
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- 3 years RN experience in an Acute Care, Critical Care or Emergency Department
- Certified Emergency Nurse certification
License/Certifications
- Current professional nurse licensure in Minnesota or if licensed in another state, a permit from the Minnesota Board of Nursing while the license application is in process
- BLS
- ACLS within 6 months of hire
- Successful completion of TNCC within one year of hire
- Successful completion of ENPC within two years of hire

Pay: Up to $60.00 per hour
