Purpose of Job:
This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients in a clinic setting. Responsible for facilitating patient/physician/provider communication and coordination of care.
Job Functions:
- Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and patient histories; documents in EMR.
- Performs telephone assessment of patient condition and determines appropriate treatment for patient under the supervision of the provider.
- Administers prescribed medications/vaccines and treatments in accordance with clinic policies.
- Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients.
- Assists in maintaining stocked supplies and sterilizes instruments/exam room.
- Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at end of day.
- Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary.
- Provides patient education.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Graduate from a School of Nursing
- 1 year of experience in a clinical setting
- Skills in assessment of patient condition and taking vital signs
- Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
- Skills in preparing and maintaining records and reports
- Ability to effectively handle high-stress fast paced environment
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
- Current professional nurse licensure in Minnesota or if licensed in another state, a permit from the Minnesota Board of Nursing while the license application is in process
- Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification
