Ridgewood Pool, a beloved community hub open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, is looking for a dynamic Pool Manager. This role is about building a vibrant community, mentoring our youth, and fostering an environment of empathy and fun.
Position Overview:
As the Pool Manager, you'll be the heart of our pool operations, leading a team, engaging with members, and creating memorable experiences for all. This seasonal full-time position spans from April to September, with flexible hours for preparation in the spring and closing in the fall. Meetings and planning sessions may also be held in the off-season.

Key Responsibilities
Building Community:
● Foster a welcoming atmosphere where all members feel valued and included.
● Facilitate fun, engaging events that bring members together, such as ice cream socials, pool carnivals, and themed nights.
● Mentor youth to grow in confidence and gain new skills in a safe environment.
● Collaborate with community partners to expand access to opportunities for area youth to learn the life-saving swimming skill.
Cultivating a Positive Staff Culture:
● Recruit and mentor a diverse team of lifeguards, swim instructors, and support staff, guiding them in both their professional and personal growth.
● Conduct training sessions that emphasize safety, teamwork, and leadership.
● Implement communication structures amongst staff that include clear expectations and supportive feedback.
Leading with Empathy:
● Maintain open lines of communication with members and staff, actively listening to their needs and concerns.
● Build strong relationships to promote kindness and support among staff and patrons alike.
Operations & Safety:
● Ensure a safe and clean environment, adhering to health regulations and safety standards.
● Oversee day-to-day operations and maintain pool facilities, collaborating with volunteers and professionals as needed.
● Monitor and procure critical supplies for daily operations.
● Share updates and important information promptly through our website and social media channels.
Collaboration with the Board:
● Participate in onboarding and ongoing support available through the Board and pool community.
● Attend monthly board meetings, contributing insights on budget, community engagement, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
● Experience in a management, supervisory, or leadership role.
● Passion for mentoring and guiding youth from a growth mindset perspective.
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Confidence and competence in operating with fiscal responsibility.
● Ability to support, train, motivate, and delegate to staff to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the pool.
● Certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED use are strongly encouraged.
● Current Certified Pool Operator or willingness/ability to become CPO within a designated time frame is preferred.
Salary:
We anticipate a salary of $15-$20,000 for this seasonal role, with compensation based on experience.
