Job Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Deck Builder / Carpenter to take a lead role in constructing high-quality decks and outdoor structures. This is a hands-on position that requires advanced carpentry skills, leadership ability, and a strong eye for detail. You’ll manage and mentor junior team members while ensuring projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the construction of custom decks and exterior features from start to finish
- Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and project plans
- Ensure compliance with building codes, safety protocols, and company standards
- Operate a variety of power and hand tools
- Mentor and supervise apprentices or junior carpenters
- Communicate with clients, project managers, and team members effectively
- Troubleshoot on-site issues and adapt to project changes as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in carpentry, with a strong background in deck construction
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints
- Skilled in framing, layout, stair building, railing systems, and finish carpentry
- Familiarity with composite decking materials (e.g., Deckorators, Trex, TimberTech) is a plus
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- OSHA certification or willingness to obtain
