Ocular Trauma Centers (OTC) are specialized facilities within the Military Health System that focus on treating severe eye injuries, often related to combat. Military Treatment Facilities (MTF) are general healthcare facilities that provide medical services to military service members, their families, and other eligible beneficiaries, ranging from primary care to specialized treatment.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate vision care referrals, follow-ups, and patient movement across MTFs and VA facilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for vision care within assigned regional MTF
- Monitor and report performance metrics and assist in care quality improvements
- Liaise with other regional coordinators and the National Vision Care Coordinator
- Facilitate the transition of patients between DoD and VA for enhanced care options
- Ensure compliance with DHA and DoD protocols and support transition planning when needed
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required in Vision Science, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field
- Clinical background (e.g., RN, Optometry Technician, Vision Rehab Specialist) is a plus
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a health care coordinator, social worker, case manager, or registered nurse
- Familiarity with MHS or VA healthcare systems strongly preferred
- Experience with vision care (optometry, ophthalmology, vision rehab) is highly desirable
- Strong organizational and communication skills required
Travel & Emergency Services
- Some travel may be required to attend meetings, training, or conferences within the Continental United States (CONUS) and within the National Capitol Region (NCR)
- Occasional support may be needed outside of standard working hours for emergency services or contingency plan activations
