Description
The Graphic Designer - Pre Press provides creative and technical support to the Product Design team specifically on pre-press graphic design and handoff to production. Responsibilities include proofing all final designs across all product categories including desk & stationery, gifts, home decor, and brand partnerships. This role also supports the Sr. Designer on technical product design for some licensed categories. This position reports into the Senior Designer - Pre Press and works closely with our Product Design team and other designers. This role requires collaboration, forward thinking, strong organizational skills, and attention to fine details.
Note: The broader product design and production teams are split between our NYC design studio and our Winter Park studio. As a result, zoom/virtual meets are an important aspect of this role.
What You'll Do
- Work to manage prepress production within industry print standards for output
- Review digital and press proofs to ensure that they are accurate and meet Rifle Paper Co. quality standards
- Ensure that corrections and changes are clearly communicated to the production partner / liaison.
- Support Product Development staff by testing instructions, printing spreads, distributing notes, researching competitive products, and creating samples
- Support the Sr. Designer on concept or new design development as requested
- Build files that will ensure we can meet design intent and print efficiently
- Output color proofs
- Bring creative and innovative ideas to the table that reflect the Rifle Paper Co. brand
Job Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in graphic design with a focus on technical pre-press design (2 years if Asst. Designer level)
- Highly proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
- Excellent and natural eye for color, print, composition, layout and overall graphic design
- Highly detail oriented and motivated by the slightest details of color, layout and print
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in both written and verbal communication; direct, kind and thoughtful in all interactions
- Must be able to take feedback and direction in stride and knows how to translate and apply to category needs
- Graphic illustration skills or painting / sketching skills are a big plus, not a requirement
- Strong time management and organizational skills; proven ability to meet deadlines
