As the EHS Manager your will perform multiple functions and duties in support of the Riggs Distler & Company EHS Program and the company’s desire to be a best-in-class provider of utility construction services. You will work directly with other EHS professionals and their operations partners. The EHS Manager is responsible for the collection of EHS data, review, and coordination of EHS related documentation, development of client / project specific pre-qualifications and plans as well as the performance of facility and work area audits. The EHS Manager performs training when required, mentors EHS Coordinators, Conducts / supports incident investigations utilizing the root cause analysis process. Additional support is provided for the company DOT and Safety Compliance Program.

Responsibilities:
- Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and core values
- Represents the Company with high ethical standards, always adhering to the Company code of conduct
- Ensures full compliance with all company, state/federal and client EHS regulations
- Participates in the development and implementation of EHS policies and programs, safe work practices, EHS training programs, and drug testing policies
- Provides technical and administrative direction to EHS personnel. mentors, trains, and evaluates performance of EHS personnel
- Works with Project Managers and Regional Managers to develop EHS goals and written safety action plans to assist in achieving the goals of the business units
- Initiates and participates in all accident/incident investigations with operations personnel to determine Root-Causes and develop a Corrective Action Plan
- Maintains Accountability Programs on all projects for EHS related issues, works with supervision to ensure uniform application of EHS related discipline
- Monitors compliance with all drug and alcohol consortiums and support required testing
- Assists and provides input on EHS related provisions in contracts and bid proposals as needed
- Review and approve all Site-Specific EHS Plans
- Participates in the pre-job planning process by attending meetings, assisting in the development of project specific EHS Plans
- May perform Environmental Compliance Inspections occasionally to support field staff
- Performs Regulatory Research as required
- Overnight travel is necessary to support storm restoration work (maybe for extended periods)
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
Education, Skills, Experience Needed:
- 10 years combined education and experience in EHS, or bachelor’s degree in related field with at least 5 years combined experience in Environmental Health & Safety
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization
- Ability to interact with the customer in a professional manner
- Ability to travel monthly to company facilities and project sites
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a security background check
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Professional Certification preferred (CUSP, CHST)
- Training in First Aid, CPR, AED and OSHA 500 Preferred
- Knowledge of DOT Compliance a plus
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting of 50 lbs
